"Beyond Kamlari: Mina Chaudhry's Journey to Education and Empowerment"

Mina Chaudhry, the eldest daughter among five sisters and four brothers, was born into a kamalary family. At the age of 8, she started working as a kamlari, performing household chores in another family’s home. Despite the presence of a nearby school, she was deprived of the chance to attend due to her responsibilities. Even as she yearned for an education, her childhood passed while she continued serving in different households due to her family’s financial constraints.
Facing economic difficulties, her parents sent her to work in another household where she remained for ten years. At 22, she got married and became a mother to a daughter. However, her thirst for learning remained unquenched. She now attends literacy classes organized by United Vision Nepal with dedication. Her consistent attendance and enthusiasm for learning reflect her dedication. Previously, when her daughter brought school notices, she had to seek help from others. But now, she’s empowered to read on her own.
Previously hesitant to attend trainings or seminars, Mina now eagerly participates in such events. Her dedication to learning has also inspired her daughter. Post-literacy classes, she aspires to open a shop and diligently attends classes in pursuit of this goal.
