"Healthy Transformations: Sunita Chaudhary's Journey with Nutrition Training"

Kunjakali, a village in Kanchanpur district, where farming is the primary occupation, lacks awareness about health practices, resulting in various health issues and weakness among its residents. Sunita Chaudhary, a housewife living with her former husband and son in this village, was among those affected by this lack of health knowledge. During a Nutrition Training conducted by United Vision Nepal in their village, significant changes occurred in the community’s perspectives and lifestyles, including Sunita’s. Despite having education up to the ninth grade, Sunita lacked knowledge about nutrition. Prior to the training, her son suffered from unexplained abdominal pain, causing concern and worry for the family. Upon revisiting the village, I noticed a remarkable transformation in Sunita’s lifestyle. She mentioned her previous lack of knowledge about appropriate dietary choices and nutrient preservation while cooking. Pre-training, their meals were often high in spices and lacked nutritional balance. Additionally, they used to consume junk food as snacks, which contributed to her son’s abdominal pain. However, post-training, their family embraced a balanced diet with reduced chili consumption and increased intake of fibrous, nutritious foods. As a result, their family’s health issues diminished, and Sunita’s son recovered from his ailment, experiencing improved health. Presently, they lead a joyful life. Sunita expressed gratitude towards United Vision Nepal for granting her the opportunity to expand her knowledge through Nutrition training and baby care, which transformed her family’s outlook positively towards the organization.
