Reviving Brinjal Farming: Raju Chaudhary's Success with Herbal Pesticides

My name is Raju Chaudhary, a resident of Kamalpur in Saptari, and my primary occupation revolves around vegetable farming. Annually, I generate an income of around 75,000 Nepali Rupees by selling vegetables, which sustains all the expenses of my household. Around nine to ten months ago, I encountered a significant setback in my brinjal cultivation. Despite using nearly 9,000 to 10,000 rupees’ worth of pesticides due to a virus infestation, I couldn’t sell even a kilogram of the brinjal produce. Frustrated by this failure, I eventually abandoned brinjal cultivation altogether. However, my fortunes changed when I had the opportunity to attend a vegetable farming training program organized by United Vision Nepal. During this training, I acquired knowledge on creating Gitimal, a herbal pesticide. Implementing this newfound technique, I applied herbal pesticides to my brinjal crop this season, and the results were remarkable. My brinjal plants remained virus-free, and I successfully sold 5 quintals of brinjals. I am immensely grateful to UVN for providing me with the knowledge and techniques that have revived my brinjal cultivation, ensuring a fruitful and profitable harvest.
