"Flowing Hope: Kanchhi Maya Thing's Journey to Reliable Water Access"

I’m Kanchhi Maya Thing, a 40-year-old woman living in a village where water scarcity has plagued us for generations. My husband, a farmer and general mason, supports our family, which includes three sons and one daughter. The struggle for a reliable water source has been a constant in our lives. The closest one, just a 20-minute walk from our home, yields a meager flow, taking 10 minutes to fill a bucket. Waiting in line, especially during peak hours, often stretches our patience to over an hour.
During the dry season, the situation worsens, pushing me to trek half an hour down the hill to the river, our last resort for water. Fetching water for our home and cattle becomes a grueling task, requiring four to five trips daily. Making wine during festivals adds to our water demands, prompting the whole family to embark on a river journey.
Recently, a tap stand was installed in our courtyard, bringing newfound hope and joy to my family and the entire village. The days of enduring water shortages are now behind us, as the tap stand provides easy access to water, eliminating the need for those exhausting half-day excursions. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the organization for this transformative initiative, marking an end to the longstanding water woes in our community.
