"Flow of Relief: Min Maya Shyangtan's Journey to Abundant Water Access"

I am Min Maya Shyangtan, the youngest daughter at 17, among my nine siblings – five brothers and four sisters. Unlike my siblings who have moved away, I chose to stay in the village to assist my parents. From my very birth, water scarcity has been a pervasive issue in our village, leading some families to migrate in search of a better water supply. Our routine involved a one-hour trek to the river to fetch water, and the urgency was heightened as we had extensive agricultural and daily wage work.
Balancing responsibilities is a daily challenge for me as the sole caretaker of my parents. I handle cooking, laundry, house cleaning, and tend to our goats and chickens. Nearly half of my day was dedicated to fetching water, leaving the rest for household chores.
However, a transformative change has occurred – water now flows right in our courtyard. This remarkable improvement has granted me ample time for rest and other tasks, as the once time-consuming water-fetching routine now takes a mere five minutes.
I am overjoyed and profoundly grateful for the successful implementation of this life-changing project in our village. The burden on my parents, especially the concern about water-fetching after my marriage, has been alleviated. Thanks to the organization behind this initiative, our days are now more manageable, and we can enjoy a sense of bliss and ease.
