"Cultivating Change: Embracing Natural Farming for Sustainable Growth"

Chitru Chaudhary, a resident of Majgain Village in Kanchanpur, was a beneficiary of United Vision Nepal’s training program. Before participating in the training, he heavily relied on chemical fertilizers and pesticides to increase vegetable yields and income. However, he was unaware of the harmful effects associated with their extensive use. Attending the training provided him with valuable insights into natural vegetable farming techniques. Previously, he lacked knowledge about the specific varieties of vegetables he cultivated, but the training equipped him with the skills to produce natural fertilizers, compost manure, and manage diseases and pests organically.
Currently, Chitru cultivates tomatoes, cauliflower, eggplant, and onions on a 677.26 m2 plot of land. He has transitioned to using natural pesticides, compost, Indigenous Microorganisms 2 (IMO2), Fermented Plant Juice (FPJ), and Fermented Fruit Juice (FFJ), implementing the techniques he acquired during the training. Additionally, he has expressed interest in off-season vegetable farming using tunnels provided by UVN. He estimates that he can generate around NPR 20,000 worth of green vegetables in each season.
